Terpene Guide
The aromatic compounds behind every strain's unique character
What Are Terpenes?
Ever wonder why some cannabis smells like lemons while others smell like pine trees or lavender? That's all thanks to terpenes - aromatic compounds produced by the cannabis plant (and many other plants too!).
But terpenes aren't just about smell. They work together with cannabinoids like THC and CBD in what's called the "entourage effect" - essentially, they team up to influence your overall experience. This is why two strains with similar THC levels can feel completely different.

The Entourage Effect
The "entourage effect" is the theory that cannabis compounds work better together than in isolation. When terpenes combine with cannabinoids (THC, CBD, etc.), they can:
- Enhance effects - Myrcene may help THC cross the blood-brain barrier faster
- Reduce side effects - Pinene may counteract some of THC's memory effects
- Add new benefits - Caryophyllene activates CB2 receptors that THC doesn't touch
- Modify the high - Limonene may make the experience more uplifting
